Material Characteristics
Excellent mechanical properties
High strength and toughness: PA6 has better impact resistance and flexibility than PA66, making it suitable for dynamic loading scenarios (e.g. gears, sports equipment).
Wear resistance: low coefficient of friction makes it widely used in wear-resistant parts such as bearings and guide rails.
Thermal properties
Temperature resistance: Long-term use temperature 80~120℃, short-term up to 150℃ (lower than the temperature resistance of PA66).
Low melting point: about 220℃, low energy consumption during processing, suitable for filling complex molds.
Significant moisture absorption
High water absorption (about 3.5%), resulting in dimensional and performance changes, need to improve stability through modification (e.g. glass fiber reinforcement) or post-treatment (e.g. moisture adjustment).
Chemical stability
Resistant to oils and organic solvents, suitable for fuel lines, chemical plant components.
Weak acid and alkali sensitive: susceptible to strong acid and alkali corrosion, need to avoid contact.
Good processing performance
Good melt fluidity, suitable for injection molding, extrusion, blow molding and other processes, can make films, fibers (e.g. fishing line, fabrics).
High modification potential
Special needs can be met by adding glass fiber (to enhance strength), flame retardant (for electronic components), carbon fiber (to enhance electrical conductivity), etc.
Fields of application
Automotive industry
Critical parts: Engine hoods, radiator tanks (high temperature resistant), door handles (smooth surface).
Wear-resistant parts: Gears, bearings (e.g. wiper motor gears), utilizing their self-lubricating properties.
Electrical and electronics
Connectors and housings: Cell phone snaps, laptop hinges (need glass fiber reinforcement for dimensional stability).
Flame retardant applications: PA6 with added flame retardant for circuit breaker housings, UL94 compliant.
Consumer Goods
Tool handles: Drill housings are impact resistant and insulated for safety.
Sports equipment: Ski bindings, mountaineering buckles (lightweight and high strength).
Industrial equipment
Transmission parts: Conveyor belt chain guides (wear-resistant), industrial robot joint bushings.
Corrosion-resistant parts: chemical pump impellers (against weakly corrosive media).
Textile and Packaging
Functional fibers:Bulletproof vest fibers (high modulus modified PA6), high elasticity swimsuit fabrics.
Food packaging film: PA6/PE composite film for vacuum packaging, oxygen barrier for freshness.
